How to play

Select an operator, then click a tile, or move the cursor with I/J/K/L and press Enter.
Click a weapon in an operator's inventory to select it: nobody fires without one. Right-click fires; hold the button to keep firing.
Shift+click on the ground adds a leg to the route. Keys 1-4 pick an operator, Shift+number adds one, 0 swaps one and all, Alt+1-8 press an inventory slot. Right-click a slot (or Alt+Shift+1-8) to drop that item on the ground; F picks it up again.
The Persuader and a weapon are one or the other: switching one on puts the other away.
Stand on a relay, panel or server and press E to use it.
To finish an operation every operative still standing must be in the extraction zone (a car driven into it brings its riders).
Some operations ask you to disable a marked target or hold a position for a set time.
New campaign (on the main menu) starts the whole campaign again after asking first; your settings stay.
Press A, or use Select all, to order the whole team at once.
Each operator's three coloured sliders set Adrenaline, Perception and Intelligence.
Drag, use the arrow keys or push the mouse to the map edge to pan; scroll or +/- to zoom, C to centre, or click the minimap.
Funds build up while you play. Spend them in Research & Armoury.
F loots a disabled enemy's gear. Each operator holds up to eight items.
Space pauses. Keys can be changed in Settings.

Funds come from tax on the territories you hold. Research is paid by the hour.

Tier 1 of every part is on sale from the start. Research opens tier 2, and then tier 3, for the whole squad.

ABOUT OPENSYND

An unofficial fan game

NeuroReign is an unofficial, non-profit fan game, made as a hobby. It is inspired by other games and is not affiliated with or endorsed by their makers or owners. It is free, has no adverts and sells nothing.

The game, its art, maps, missions and writing were developed from scratch for this project. Its rules and numbers come from the open source FreeSynd project.

Thank you to the FreeSynd team and to the whole open source community, whose work and generosity made this possible.

How FreeSynd was used

This project began as a copy (a fork) of the FreeSynd repository. The old engine code is still in the repository for reference, but the browser game does not use it.
FreeSynd's source code is where the rules were learned: how persuading works, the cybernetic upgrades, the drugs, how accurate a shot is, carrying weight, refilling ammunition, research, territories with tax, mood and revolt, and how police, guards, vehicles and traffic behave. They were rebuilt from scratch in the browser, and where our first idea and FreeSynd's rule disagreed, FreeSynd's won.
Nothing else was taken: no graphics, sounds, music, maps, missions, writing, names or data files. The FreeSynd team has nothing to do with this game and has not seen or approved it.
